Bipolar Graspers
and Dissectors

HICURA™ bipolar instruments are comprised of reusable graspers and dissectors such as a Maryland and a Kleppinger-like Johann grasper. Each provides its own capabilities for grasping or dissecting with the addition of bipolar energy.

Bipolar Energy

The Olympus® HICURA™ bipolar series combines the benefits of bipolar energy and coagulation with the precision and tactility of monopolar hand instruments. HICURA™ bipolar hand instruments are color-coded on the handle and rotation wheel for clear identification.

Jaw Design

PFA-insulated bipolar jaws reduce the risk of coagulation failures for safe application*

Extended Shaft Insulation

The HICURA™ shafts are insulated to the base of the jaw where the instrument's joint mechanism is enclosed by the shaft, helping to avoid unintended tissue contact while applying energy.

The Olympus® hand instruments are specifically designed for endoscopic diagnosis and treatment during the thoracoscopic and laparoscopic procedures within the peritoneal and thoracic cavities. These devices do not have any absolute contraindications against laparoscopy/thoracoscopy which would not equally apply to open surgery in general. The operating physician must judge according to professional standards whether a specific procedure is appropriate.
